	Orthopaedic Learning Centre
	Orthopaedic Surgery is a fast-advancing and ever-expanding field. The challenges to orthopaedic surgeons are to keep abreast with the cutting edge of knowledge in basic science and clinical practice, to master skills in sophisticated equipment and instruments, and communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals. The aim of our expertise is to provide a high standard of orthopaedic care to our community. The success of orthopaedic management, particularly surgery, lies on the teamwork of experienced surgeons, nurses and allied healthcare professionals, together with a number of support that are made available by the medical and related fraternities. http://www.olc-cuhk.org/e/index.html

	Computer Assisted Orthopaedics Laboratory
	This CAOS Lab is uniquely designed for surgeons to practice computer-simulated surgeries. An up-to-date software (e.g. Mimics Medical Imaging Software), which provides powerful features such as segmentation and 3D reconstruction tools, is available in the lab. Surgical navigation system and patented image-guided navigation practice models are also available for surgeons and surgical trainees to practice implantations. Meanwhile, a direct communication with the operating theatres and the Department of Radiology via the Intranet can facilitate the transfer of data for pre-operative planning and post-operative assessments. 	CUHK-ORT Sports Injury Research Laboratory
	Under the Sports Medicine and Regenerative Technology (SMART) flagship program since Dec 2008, our research laboratory focuses on injury prevention, risk assessment and return-to-play of sports injury, particular in knee ACL injury, thigh hamstring strain and shoulder rotator cuff injury. We also devote to community-based research, such as the effectiveness and adherence of injury prevention and health promotion. It affiliates with The Hong Kong Jockey Club Sports Medicine and Health Sciences Center as the Sports Biomechanics and Automation Engineering Unit, and Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. http://www.ort.cuhk.edu.hk/research-sirl.html

	On 12 May, 2008, an earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale hit Sichuan Province, altering 350,000 people’s lives. It brought extensive levels of injuries; paralysis as a result of spinal cord injuries and syndromes and deformities induced by post-fracture infection were only few of the many. In order to survive, many casualties caught in the debris needed amputations. Among them, many were children and teenagers. They are now facing a long and windy road of rehabilitation. We would like to express our heartfelt sympathy for the destruction and loss of life caused by this devastating earthquake. While expressing our condolences, we must work together to fulfill the mission of the Orthopaedics in an effective and sustainable manner, so as to aid the victims on their road to recovery. Therefore, the Chinese Speaking Orthopaedic Society concentrated the power of all the Chinese elites around the globe, in order to make use of advanced technology and their experience to help the patients.
