Prof Chad A. Mirkin, a towering figure in the field of nanotechnology, came to CUHK to deliver the 2015 Sunney and Irene Chan Lecture in Chemical Biology. Together with Mr Ben Mirkin, he visited our Bionanotechnology Lab and interacted with our group members.
Invited by Prof. Nam-Joon Cho of Nanyang Technological University, Prof Choi gave a seminar entitled ‘A gold@polydopamine core-shell nanoprobe for long-term intracellular detection of microRNAs in differentiating stem cells’ at the 2015 International Symposium for Advanced Materials Research (ISAMR 2015) at Sun Moon Lake, Taiwan on August 17, 2015.
Kit Choi, Bohan Yin, Cecilia Chan and Samuel Sy are starting their 1st year PhD study here in Bionanotachnology Lab. Welcome! Find out more about them here.
Prof Leaf Huang from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill visited the Bionanotechnology Lab and gave a seminar entitled “Lipid Bilayer-Stabilized Calcium Phosphate Nanoparticles for Drug and Gene Delivery” at the Biomedical Engineering Seminar Series. Prof Huang is a towering figure in the field of drug delivery and has pioneered the development of PEGylated liposomes.
Prof Choi gave a presentation entitled ‘A gold@polydopamine core-shell nanoprobe for long-term intracellular detection of microRNAs in differentiating stem cells’ at the Revolutionizing Biology and Medicine with Advances in Nanotechnology Workshop at Hunan University on June 23, 2015. This two-day workshop successfully attracted 10-12 leading experts in nanomedicine/ chemical biology from the US and China as well as 40 undergraduate students from Hunan.
Prof Choi's postdoctoral work (as a co-first author) entitled “The sequence-specific cellular uptake of spherical nucleic acid nanoparticle conjugates” has been published in Small! GGG! [Abstract & Full Text]
Our work, entitled “A gold@polydopamine core-shell nanoprobe for long-term intracellular detection of microRNAs in differentiating stem cells”, is now out in JACS! In collaboration with Prof. Liming Bian and his team, we have successfully demonstrated the use of gold@polydopamine nanoprobes to monitor the long-term differentiation events inside stem cells via the sequence-specific detection of microRNA markers. Congratulations to Kit! [Abstract & Full Text]
