[Academic Lectures]
The “New Asia Lectures on Confucianism” delivered by Prof. Cheng Kat-hung Dennis, Chair Professor of Cultural History, The Education University of Hong Kong, and the “New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China” delivered by Prof. Lau Pui-king Priscilla, one of the Hong Kong deputies to the 9th – 12th National People’s Congress (1998 – 2017), as well as an Adjunct Professor of the School of Business, Hong Kong Baptist University, were successfully held in October and November respectively. Wang Yam-miu (Philosophy/2), one of our participants in the New Asia Young Scholars Scheme, and Tsang Wing-yee (Journalism and Communication/4) summarized the essence of the lectures for readers to review the content.

[Alumni Reunions]
The Alumni Reunion activities were suspended for two and a half years due to the pandemic. The College managed to organize the 32nd year Reunion Dinner of Class 1990, the 43rd and 42nd year Reunion Luncheon of Class 1979 and 1980, and the 22nd year Reunion Dinner of Class 2000 over the past two months. At the end of this feature article are two contributions from our graduates of Class 1990.

[New Asia Young Scholars Scheme (NAYS)]
The NAYS Scheme held three physical activities earlier, including a “Chinese History Research Method Lecture” delivered by Mr. Wong Ho-chiu, Member of Board of Trustees of the College, a “Tai Kwun Tour” led by Mr. Lee Ming-kwai Dick, Former Commissioner of Police, as well as a “Guided Reading Group on ‘The Travels of Lao Can’” hosted by Prof. Hsu Hui-Lin, Associate Professor of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, CUHK. Three participants of the Scheme, Chan Man-wai (Computer Science/2), Liu Sining (Economics/2) and Lyu Zuohang (Economics/4) shared with us their insights and experiences gained from the activities.

[Column “Heterogeneity in a Single Theme”]
The theme of this issue is “Merry Christmas”, and is written by two alumni Mr. Kung Man-chun (17/Journalism and Communication) and Ms. Wong Yuk-shan (18/Fine Arts). Man-chun illustrated the enjoyable and annoying moments of Christmas with his experiences in sending Christmas cards and receiving lucky draw gifts, while Yuk-shan described a series of absurd and bizarre events that happened in an imaginary prosperous city on Christmas Eve.

[Contributions from Alumni]
The Year 2020 marks the 20th death anniversary of Ms. Xie Tienguang, Mr. Tang Chun-I’s wife. Mr. Chiu Yu-ming praised the virtues and demeanor of Ms. Xie in the article to express his admiration and respect for her. Mr. Ng Man-wah (68/Philosophy) detailed the design of the CUHK emblem and the significance of the University motto, enabling readers to understand the Chinese cultural values and educational philosophy behind them.
