Overview
The roles of the Centre are to demonstrate high standard of research that are attainable in sports medicine and sports sciences in Hong Kong, to strengthen sports medicine and sports health education training for allied health staff for a high quality of services, to provide high-quality medical services to the athletes and amateur sportspeople, and to encourage exercise for health by the population at large. The Centre carries out a wide range of programs including sports medicine research, publication, academic conferences, education programs, performance enhancement training & on-field medical support for athletes as well as sports for health promotion program for the general public. Different teams of the Centre work closely to achieve the synergism of the Centre by doing research, disseminating research findings and applying research outcomes in clinical and community services.
Our Mission
To provide integrated sports medicine and health services through evidence-based practice, training of sports medicine and health sciences professionals, supported by basic and applied scientific research related to improving the safety and efficiency of sports and to recreate a healthy society by promoting exercise in the general public.
Vision
To become the leading hub in the Asia-pacific region for advancing sports medicine and sports science related research and technology.
Research
The Centre focuses on prevention and treatments for sports injuries. Apart from clinical & applied research for management of sport injuries , we chiefly devotes to translational research on tendon, ACL and cartilage injuries.
