By supporting geo-visualization, geo-simulation, geo-collaboration, and human participation, VGEs are a kind of typical virtual environment built for geographic research with the objective of providing open, computer-based geographic environments corresponding to the geographic scenarios in the physical world, to allow users to “feel it in person” using multi-channel interactive technologies, and “know it beyond reality” through geo-simulation and geo-collaborative experiments.
