1 Introduction
With growing environmental awareness in the society, there has been a rapidly expanding interest in, and demand for, conservation and protection of mature trees on construction or development sites and a higher professional standard in tree management and maintenance particularly in the urban area. In response to the increasing needs of professionals in tree management and maintenance, the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUSCS) and The Hong Kong Trees Conservation Association (HKTCA) continue their successful collaboration to jointly offer this Programme.
2 HKTCA
HKTCA is a non-profit making organization registered in 2001 by a group of persons who have a keen interest in preserving the trees and the green environment in Hong Kong. The mission of the Association is to promote public awareness in tree conservation and to promote education and research in arboriculture. The Association has organized many activities in the past few years with the aim to promote awareness, particularly among the students, in tree conservation. The Association will continue to organise various educational activities in a joint effort to promote and safeguard the urban and rural environment of Hong Kong in the best interest of the community.

SCS, as an extension of CUHK, has an unwavering commitment to provide quality continuing and professional education to the community and unleash people's potential. Having been a pioneer and leader in lifelong education in the territory since its inception in 1965, the School provides abundant learning opportunities for the local community and the region.
