Programme Description
This programme admits highly motivated students, who are dedicated to contributing towards our passion for global excellence in impactful and translational research outputs. It combines seminars with independent research in an individually designed course of study under the guidance of a supervisor and two or three advisors. Students are nurtured and encouraged to develop competencies in their chosen research field and to provide meaningful contributions to their specific discipline. Our research programmes are based on the premise that physical activity is a health-related behaviour that influences the well-being of individuals. It is from this perspective that PhD students can study physical activity and exercise using a physiological, psychological, biomechanical, pedagogical or sociological approach, or an inter- and multi-disciplinary approach.
Programme Requirements
In addition to the research study or studies conducted, students may be required to enrol in formal courses
of lectures within the Graduate Division of Education and in other divisions of the University as deemed
necessary.
