Dr. Jinyue Liao received his bachelor's degree in Basic Medicine from Fudan University in 2007. During that time, he was trained in biology, biochemistry, genetics and medicine. Afterward, he received his master's degree in Biochemistry from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2012. Thereafter, he received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2017 and had postdoctoral training at the School of Biomedical Sciences, The Chinese University of Hong Kong from 2017 to 2021. His research focused on the analysis of gene regulatory networks that define the identity, development, and function of cells with a particular focus on germ cell development, regeneration and aging. His research integrates both wet (experimental) and dry (computational) components. The tools of his work include RNA-seq for gene expression, ChIP-seq for histone modifications, ATAC-seq for chromatin accessibility, and single-cell RNA-seq and single-cell ATAC-seq for individual transcriptomes and epigenomes from single cells. He is also interested in developing, implementing, and offering methods of single-cell profiling to build a bridge between researchers and single-cell technologies in their quest to understand how cells collectively perform systems-level functions in healthy and diseased states. |
