Thematic Seminars and Workshops for School Managers (2021/22)
The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Hong Kong Centre for the Development of Educational Leadership
Hong Kong Institute of Educational Research
Faculty of Education

Since the implementation of the school-based management (SBM) policy, the major stakeholders of schools (including representatives of sponsoring bodies, principals, teachers, parents, alumni and independent members) have been able to participate in school decision-making to promote school development and healthy growth of students. The Chief Executive requested in the 2017 Policy Address the setting up of a “Task Force on SBM Policy” (TF) to conduct a comprehensive review on the current implementation of SBM policy in aided schools. After in-depth analysis of the views collected from the education sector and various stakeholders, the TF recommends strengthening the training of school managers. In this connection, the Education Bureau (EDB) has commissioned The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to organise a total of two thematic seminars and two identical workshops for school managers in the 2021/22 school year, which aims to equip school managers with legal knowledge in relation to school management and mediation skills for resolving disagreement, hence enhancing the effectiveness of school governance and providing quality education for students.
