Postdoctoral Fellows Opportunities in CUHK BME
Principal Investigator: Prof. Jonathan Choi
Project Title/Lab Name: Bionanotechnology Laboratory
Abstract/Description: The Bionanotechnology Laboratory at The Chinese University of Hong Kong has two postdoc positions effective from now. Candidates with the passion to work on developing cutting-edge translational biomedical research in is highly encouraged to apply. The initial appointment is for 1 year, and it will renewed for another 1 year or more subject to satisfying performance. Job Requirements:
The candidates should have a PhD degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, materials science, or a related field. He/She should have published experience in at least one of the following areas: (1) biomaterials or nanomaterials, (2) cell-based experiments, (3) animal-based experiments, and (4) regenerative medicine. For this call, priority will be given to candidates with a strong background in nanomedicine/ tissue engineering/ regenerative medicine, although interested candidates from the above backgrounds will all be considered.
Job Duties:
Successful applicants will be expected to work on developing DNA nanostructures for diagnostics/ nanomedicine/ or regenerative medicine in preclinical (and potentially clinical) projects. The applicants will work closely with the Choi group as well as collaborators from the CUHK Faculty of Medicine. They are also expected to mentor graduate students and junior researchers in the Choi group

Project Engineer

Job Duties:
• Assist the construction manager to establish project objectives, procedures, data collection methods, and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy

• Create and administer appropriate testing protocols to monitor project performance

Project Title/Lab Name:
CUHK Jockey Club HOPE 4 Care Programme – AR (Augmented Reality) Rehabilitation Training System
Online AR Training Platform for the Elderly and Persons with Chronic Diseases at Home
Abstract/Description: These projects aim to develop and deploy a visual intelligence software product to facilitate physical rehabilitation for stroke survivors and the elderly. The objectives of this project are: (i) to facilitate better upper limb, lower limb and balance recovery on more stroke survivors and the elderly in society with the AR Rehabilitation System design, (ii) to undertake algorithm optimization for efficient execution, (iii) to develop more functions and improve existing system performance.
Job Requirements:
(i) Major in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Engineering, Computing, Electrical Engineering or other related disciplines;
(ii) Postdoctoral Fellow: a PhD degree in the above mentioned disciplines, plus at least one year’s post-qualification experience in the related fields;
Research Associate: a Master’s degree in the above mentioned disciplines, plus at least four years' post-qualification experience in the related field;
Research Assistant: a Bachelor’s/Master's degree in the above mentioned disciplines, preferably with at least one year's post-qualification experience. Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as Junior Research Assistant;
Junior Research Assistant: Fresh graduates of the above mentioned disciplines.
(iii) Strong self-motivation, a good sense of responsibility and problem-solving skills;
(iv) Good communication (basic Cantonese is preferred) and writing skills; and
(v) Good development and debugging skills in using at least one of the following languages: C, C++, C#, Python and JAVA.
Experience in Augmented Reality (AR), data analytics, machine learning are preferred.
Job Duties:
(a) assist in project as assigned;
(b) develop visual intelligence software product, which is easy-of-use to customer and bring the best accuracy/performance;
(c) test, release and improve software based on customer's feedbacks independently;
(d) deploy and maintain the system in users’ homes and rehabilitation centres;
(e) conduct clinical trials with unimpaired subjects, persons after stroke and persons with disability;
(f) undertake algorithm optimisation for efficient execution; and
(g) analyse data, write documents, papers and reports.
