Master of Philosophy
In addition to the general qualifications required for admission to a M.Phil. programme by Graduate School, applicants should have a medical degree of M.B. Ch.B. or equivalent or a recognised bachelor’s degree in a field related to life sciences.

Doctor of Philosophy
In addition to the general qualifications required for admission to a Ph.D. programme by Graduate School, applicants should have a medical degree of M.B. Ch.B. or equivalent or a recognised Master’s degree in a field related to life sciences.

English
All applicants must fulfill the “English Language Proficiency Requirement” as stipulated by the Graduate School before being considered for admission. Please refer to the most updated Postgraduate Prospectus for details on such requirement.

Quota
Every year we have very limited quota, so our programmes are highly competitive. All applicants are encouraged to send a copy of resume, certificates and transcripts for initial assessment by email.

Hong Kong Ph.D. Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS)
For HKPFS applicants, brilliant and highly motivated candidates with bachelor degree with 1st Class Honors or Graduation of Excellence from good university, research master’s degree from good university, outstanding GPA >90% or 3.80/4.00, excellent academic scholarships or awards, good publications and exceptional community service are expected.

Besides the regular PhD and the HKPFS quota, there are 4 additional schemes provide extra quota* for Division.

  • Identity verification documents
  • Official and original certificate(s) of the latest Master’s Degree from Top 200 THE/QS universities

Vice-Chancellor’s PhD Scholarship
  • PhD offer from Top 50 THE/QS universities and
  • Outstanding academic performance (minimum GPA 3.5/4.0 or equivalent)
  • Offer letter from Top 50 THE/QS universities
  • Official and original certificate(s) of the latest Master’s Degree that fulfills the minimum requirement

Great Bay Area Joint Training
CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute(SZRI), Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT), CUHK Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Research Institute (Futian) (FITRI) and partner institutes
  • Half of the normative study period on CUHK campus while the other half will be based at partner institutions/CUHK GBA Research Institutes to conduct research
  • Background information on the research collaboration
  • Submit a detailed study and research plan including a thesis study proposal and a proposed timetable setting out milestones to be achieved at CUHK and at the partner institution
