Starting April 2010, the Vice-chancellor of CUHK have led a number of delegations to major universities and education institutes in Taiwan – Taiwan University, Taiwan Central University, Taiwan Cheng Kung university, Taiwan Cheng Chi University, Taiwan Chiao Tung University, the Academia Sinica and the Taiwan Science Council – with an aim to foster collaboration and partnership. Many of these universities, including Taiwan Cheng Kung University and Taiwan Central University, reciprocated this goodwill by paying return visits to CUHK shortly after.
Striving to further the bondage of CUHK and Taiwan universities and to foster bilateral arts and humanistic studies, the Centre utilizes the strength of CUHK to co-ordinate interdisciplinary research on Taiwan, while collaborating with the Hong Kong Research Centre in the Taiwan Central University and other counterpart institutions in Taiwan. Ongoing research topics of the Center include HK-Taiwan literature, history, philosophy, cultural and film studies. The Centre also explores broader bilateral studies such as cultural management, cultural heritage conservation, urban regeneration, cultural development policy and cultural creative industries.
