Dr Li Dak Sum Shanghai-Hong Kong Development Lecture

Since 2013, SHKDI has invited eminent scholars and policy experts on economics and finance to give annual lectures at CUHK on current hot topics in Shanghai and Hong Kong to academics, professionals, policymakers and the wider public. The lecture series is named after Hong Kong entrepreneur and philanthropist Dr Li Dak Sum in recognition of his generous donation.

Annual Conference

​SHKDI organizes international conferences in Shanghai and Hong Kong alternately to provide an opportunity for entrepreneurs, academics and policy-makers to engage in dialogue on the most contemporary subjects relating to the future development of the two cities.

2018

• The 6th Dr Li Dak Sum Shanghai-Hong Kong Development Lecture on "The Development Trend of World Politics: Towards a New Cold War Era?" was given by Prof Wang Jisi, Boya Chair Professor and President of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies at Peking University
• The 17th SHKDI Annual Conference on "The Importance of City Integration in Chinese Economy" was held in Fudan University

2017

• The 5th Dr Li Dak Sum Shanghai-Hong Kong Development Lecture on "Re-evaluation of RMB Assets: The Revolutionary Trend along with the Inclusion of China's RMB into SDR Basket" was given by Prof Ba Shusong, Chief China Economist at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited
• The 16th SHKDI Annual Conference on "The Chinese Economy in the Next Decade" was held in CUHK

2016

• The 4th Dr Li Dak Sum Shanghai-Hong Kong Development Lecture on "Comparing Shanghai and Hong Kong as Financial Centres: Past, Present and Future" was given by Mr Anthony Neoh, Former Chairman of the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong
• The 15th SHKDI Annual Conference on "One Belt One Road and Financial Cooperation: Shanghai and Hong Kong’s Perspective" was held in Fudan University

• The 2nd Dr Li Dak Sum Shanghai-Hong Kong Development Lecture on "Shanghai and Hong Kong: Competitors or Cooperators?" was given by Mr Antony Leung, Former Financial Secretary of HKSAR
• The 13th SHKDI Annual Conference on "One-Belt One-Road: Opportunities for Shanghai and Hong Kong" was held in Fudan University

• The 1st Dr Li Dak Sum Shanghai-Hong Kong Development Lecture on "Financial Development in Shanghai and Hong Kong" was given by Mr Andrew Sheng, President of Fung Global Institute
• The 12th SHKDI Annual Conference on "The Restructuring of Chinese Economy and the Economic Development of Shanghai and Hong Kong" was held in CUHK
• "The Integration of Regional Economy in Asia: Target, Path and Policy" Sub-forum was organized by SHKDI in Shanghai Forum 2013
