To promote our collaboration with international
organizations, we have actively participated in the various academic research
activities by OECD, UNESCO and World Bank, and have supported the educational
development in Asia-Pacific regions. Since 2000, Hong Kong has participated in the PISA
study, which was followed by several Chinese societies in the later PISA cycles. With
extensive experience in conducting PISA study, our research team has facilitated the
initiation of PISA project in Macao and Shanghai in 2003 and 2006 respectively by
providing professional advice and support.
The Network for Education Quality Monitoring in the Asia-Pacific Region (NEQMAP) is established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). It serves to support the development of education quality monitoring systems in Asia-Pacific regions. Our Centre has participated in the NEQMAP since June 2013. Our Centre director, Prof. Esther Ho Sui Chu, is one of the founding members of the NEQMAP Steering Group and has actively engaged in the various activities of the NEQMAP.

2. Providing support to the educational development in the Asia-Pacific
region
In recent years, our Centre has made a concerted effort to support the educational development in the Asia-Pacific region. Our Centre director, Prof. Esther Ho Sui Chu, has been invited to provide training for researchers in Beijing, Vietnam and Malaysia on how to manage and analyze research data from large-scale assessments. She has provided insights on how to make use of the PISA data in different ways, so that policymakers, educators and the general public may be benefitted from the research outcomes. In the coming three years, we will continue to develop multilateral collaborative research projects with the different provinces and cities in the Mainland China and with the Asia-Pacific region.
3. PISA 2000+ to 2015 in Hong Kong (HKPISA)
The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) is a triennial international survey which aims to evaluate education systems worldwide by testing the skills and knowledge of 15-year-old students.
