MIB is hosted by the newly established Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). MIB is a young group that aims to interface engineering and biology. We offer a wide spectrum of training opportunities in the following areas: Microfabrication, Fluorescence Spectroscopy, Disease Diagnosis and DNA Nanotechnology. Postdoc position

Principal Investigator: Megan Yi-Ping HO
Project Title: Rapid Diagnosis of Bacterial Infections and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing
Job Requirements: Candidates with strong background in engineering biosensors and microfluidics for biological applications are preferred.

Job Duties: The candidate will be in charge of the development of biosensors and microfluidic systems for the captioned purpose. The candidate will also need to communicate with our clinical partners.

A postdoctoral position (or excellent research assistant with a master degree) is available. We are looking for candidates with strong background in designing microfluidics for biological applications. The first contract is 12 months (with possibilities of extension). Prospective PhD students

Students with strong background in engineering (mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, electronic engineering), material science, medical science or biological science are welcomed. Excellent students with other majors are also encouraged to contact Prof. Ho for potential openings.

Prospective students with outstanding academic record are encouraged to apply for the Hong Kong PhD fellowship Scheme (HKPFS). The Fellowship provides an annual stipend of HK$301,200 (approximately US$38,600) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$12,600 (approximately US$1,600) per year for each awardee. As a regular practice, English requirement for PhD application in CUHK is: TOEFL (over 79, internet based) or IELTS (6.5 or above).
