We believe that everybody can make a difference. Each year, we partner with a green organisation to recruit, empower and work with a team of passionate CUHK students as ‘Save Food Ambassadors’ to promote the message of ‘Love Food, Hate Waste’. Over 300 students have joined us since 2013.
Recruitment
Join us if you are passionate about protecting the Earth, innovative in communicating the message of ‘Love Food, Hate Waste’, and ready to make an impact on our campus. There will be two recruitment drives each academic year (in September and January). Stay tuned to our promotion on this webpage and the Sustainable Development at CUHK website, or through @CUHK.SRSD and for more information.
Empowerment
We work with a green organisation to design and run a training programme for our ambassadors, which includes a seminar on local food waste problems and a hands-on green workshop.
Field Work Experience
Leftovers from diners in canteens is the major source of food waste on campus. To articulate the message of ‘Love Food, Hate Waste’ among diners in CUHK, our ambassadors visit different canteens on campus during lunch time to interact with diners through mini games. Diners will be rewarded with gifts if they can finish their plates and answer our questions correctly. There have been 250 lunchtime promotion activities had been conducted on campus since 2013, covering over 90% of the canteens with dine-in area.
