    What is Zoom-with-a-Librarian service?

    Through using the Zoom Conference Meeting , you can communicate with and get assistance from the librarian-on-duty by using chat to write or transfer files, screen sharing or speaking to the librarian, for example, on:

    To enhance access to library materials and in response to users’ feedback in the 2019 Library Survey, we are pleased to announce that a pilot Self-pickup Station with 18 lockers is now available at the Shaw College. The secured lockers enable CUHK students and staff to pick up books they request and return without having to go to a library.

    This Station is the first of its kind among all university libraries in Hong Kong that is installed outside of a library building. It comes with a user-friendly touchscreen interface. As a pilot run, the Station has 18 lockers and a book drop. When a requested item is ready to be picked up at the station, users will receive an email pickup notice from the Library.

    The Library is co-organising with Centre of Translation Technology in Department of Translation for events to introduce CORPRO, a tool for Chinese text analysis. The workshops and seminar will be conducted by Prof. CHUEH Ho-chia, Associate Professor at Department of Bio-Industry Communication and Development, National Taiwan University, who developed CORPRO originally for her research but opens freely for use.     Approved by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced the sixth batch of ‘National Catalogue of Precious Ancient Books’ on 13 November 2020 in Beijing. Fifteen Chinese ancient books from the CUHK Library’s Rare Book Collection have been included in the final list. The selection criteria of the National Catalogue of Precious Ancient Books are extremely strict - listed materials must be of scholarly value, historical and cultural significance, and they should be handwritten or printed before 1912 in the form of classical binding. This is the first time that Chinese ancient books from Hong Kong academic library collection being selected as national precious books.
