Research Focus

Neurovascular biology/diseases

In this program, we aim to gain mechanistic understanding of the regulation of neurovascular network functioning by neurons and cells constituting the neurovascular units (NVU), as well as their dysfunction in neurodegenerative disease, with a major focus on cerebral small vessel disease. This will be achieved by a multi-disciplinary approach involving in vivo brain imaging of neuronal activities, morphology and dynamics of cerebrovascular network as well as pharmacological and optical manipulation of neuronal and NVU cell functions. Major focus includes:
  1. Neurovascular network function and development
  2. Neurobiology of cerebral small vessel diseases
