Thanks to the support of over 3,100 runners, the CUHK Marathon Team received the ‘Most Supportive Group Award’ in the Standard Chartered HK Marathon as the second largest team.

On the race day, a support team of over 450 CUHK students, alumni, teachers and staff will cheer for runners along the marathon course and CUHK Sports Medicine Team will be stationed at the booth located at the finish point to provide on-field physiotherapy for runners. All CUHK Marathon Team runners are welcome to visit the CUHK booth, where they can enjoy welcoming hot drinks, pick up souvenir towels and capture cheerful moments with photos.

To prep CUHK runners for the race, Miss Alison Chow, an Assistant Lecturer from the Physical Education Unit talked about pacing management in a short video earlier. In this issue, two CUHK lecturers Mr. Daniel Lee and Mr. Chan Chi Ming will introduce more tactics for runners, such as optimal drafting position, cutting corners, reeling in the runners, and positive mantras during the run.

On the 11th day of the Lunar New Year, Prof. Joseph Sung, CUHK Vice-Chancellor held a Spring Reception at the Vice-Chancellor's Lodge for staff to celebrate the New Year. Representatives of various staff associations, colleges and several awardees of the Long Service Award joined the event and spent a cheerful afternoon.

Immersed in the festive season, everyone was in high spirits and greeted each other with best wishes for the New Year. In addition to the warm-up games and lucky draw, several cultural booths were set up for the guests to enjoy traditional desserts and handcrafts.

To celebrate the Lantern Festival, “Yat Po Singers”, Hong Kong’s first professional a cappella choral theatre group was invited to perform at the Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS).

Every year at this time, ICS hangs up rows of big Chinese lanterns in its courtyard and holds the annual “Music for CM Li and You ─ The Lantern Festival Concert” to celebrate this traditional Chinese festival. From Chinese folk songs to popular western songs, the impressive vocal dexterity of this year's guests, "Yat Po Singers", drew rounds of applause from the audience. Besides the music show, guests also tried the traditional game, lantern riddles, and visited the exhibitions at the Art Museum to experience Chinese traditional culture from different perspectives.

Started in 2006, the “Music for CM Li and You ─ The Lantern Festival Concert” is co-organised by ICS, the Art Museum and the Office of the Arts Administrator. The concert commemorates Dr. Li Choh-ming, the founding Vice-Chancellor and also the founder of ICS, whose bronze statue sits quietly in the courtyard, enjoying the festive sound year after year.
