夏秀禎教授,香港中文大學教育學院副院長(研究),體育運動科學系教授,曾經在2009至2015年間擔任體育運動科學系系主任 ; 現為香港中文大學運動教育學及身體活動評估實驗室負責人,中國香港跳繩總會會長及國際高校體育教育協會(AIESEP)理事。夏教授的主要研究領域包括體育教育、體育教師專業發展、體育素養、基礎動作技能及家庭為中心的體力活動等。夏教授曾以首席研究員身份成功申請多項學術研究基金,其中4項獲香港研究資助局優配研究金資助,1項獲大學教育資助委員會配對基金資助,2項獲優質教育基金資助,3項獲香港中文大學知識轉移基金資助,6項獲美國可口可樂基金會立項資助。夏教授現作為首席研究員主持由香港賽馬會慈善信託基金立項資助的「賽馬會家校童喜動計劃」相關工作。該項計劃為期五年,於2017年啟動,受惠人數將有8萬多人,包括本地小學生及其家長、教師 ; 計劃旨在從個人、社交、環境及學校政策各層面鼓勵參與者在思維和行為上作出積極改變,進而建立更活躍、健康的生活方式。
在香港中文大學任教期間,夏教授先後獲頒2009年度「校長模範教學獎」和2015年度「卓越研究獎」。夏教授作為聯合創始人組建了中國香港跳繩總會,並擔任會長一職至今。在夏教授的帶領下,中國香港跳繩總會在星島報業集團主辦的2016香港傑出領袖選舉中獲得了「體育/文化/演藝界傑出領袖」這一殊榮。
