Recent developments in Belt and Road regions

The Belt and Road (B&R) initiative presents many opportunities for CUHK to develop student recruitment, student and faculty mobility, as well as academic and research collaborations with institutions in the B&R regions. CUHK has been attaching great importance in this area since the inception of the initiative. Listed below are some new developments:

• CUHK has established links with VNU University of Language and International Studies in Vietnam for Chinese language and linguistics collaborations. A number of initiatives are being explored as a result of a recent visit by the University, including joint research in teaching Chinese as a second language; comparative studies of Chinese and Vietnamese; and study tours.

• The University of Novi Sad in Serbia will offer a summer programme catered for Chinese students this year. The credit-bearing programme will feature lectures on the history, law, politics, culture, religion, literature, business, economics and gastronomy of Serbia and Southeast Europe. Field trips and cultural exchange activities will also be arranged. CUHK will support the programme fee of the participating students.
