Excellence in academics is only one of many qualities which are necessary for aspiring barristers. However, what are the other required aptitudes and key skills? What are the sources of work for barristers? How does one build a strong and appealing resume? These are material and fundamental questions for anyone who is considering a career at the bar.

In this Masterclass, Benjamin Yu SC, Bernard Man SC and Danny Tang will address these questions by examining various aspects of practice at the Bar. Topics will range from aptitude required to be a barrister, how to study law, how an aspiring barrister should build up his/her CV, work ethics and how one can be an effective advocate, the joys and satisfaction that practice at the Bar bring, practice management, the traditions and camaraderie of the Bar, recent trends in practice and many more. They will also offer practical tips on finding out whether the Bar is a profession which suits you and the things which barrister hopefuls should focus on during their time at law school.

The session will consist of small group discussions with the speakers as well as featured talks in a wider setting.
