Description

Dr. Lam Lai Ling graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Philosophy, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Chinese Language and Literature. She is currently a lecturer in our department. Over the years, she has received several awards for her teaching excellence, including the the Vice-Chancellor’s Exemplary Teaching Award (2023), the Faculty of Arts’ Outstanding Teaching Award (2022, 2023), Department of Chinese Language and Literature’s Outstanding Teaching Award (2021-2024).

Dr. Lam’ s research areas include Pre-Qin and Han Dynasty texts, Han-Tang commentaries, philology, lexicology, and Chinese language pedagogy. She is the author of 《先秦兩漢文獻傳注叢考—詞彙.訓詁.傳承》and《古籍傳注異文訓詁集證》. She has also published numerous peer-reviewed academic papers. Dr. Lam has led multiple teaching research projects, including Ancient Chinese Texts Online: Enhancing Students’ Chinese Writing Skills through the Study of Classical SayingsA Project of Igniting Creativity through Experiential Learning, Chinese across the Curriculum: collaboration with Colleges and the Office of University General Education, and Students as partners in Language Enhancement: Game your way to Chinese.

Dr. Lam has delivered numerous public lectures on language and literature, with topics including 〈訓詁與文學——古漢語中的色彩詞〉, 〈同事異文–古文獻對讀意趣〉, and 〈中國古代的辟穀文化〉. She also gave a lecture for the 「學海書樓人生學問講座」 co-organized by the Hong Kong Public Libraries and Hok Hoi Library, on the topic 〈不愚之孝〉. In addition, Dr. Lam has been interviewed by various mass media outlets, including RTHK, Hong Kong Economic Journal, and Wen Wei Po, on subjects concerning the contemporary significance of traditional Chinese culture and Chinese language education at the tertiary level.
