The Council of The Chinese University of Hong Kong has approved the appointment of Professor Irwin KING Kuo Chin as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education), effective from 1 August 2025 for a term of two years.
Prof. KING is the Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at CUHK and a world-renowned scholar in machine intelligence. He is a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the International Neural Network Society (INNS), the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA) and the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). He previously served as Associate Dean (Education) of the Faculty of Engineering and currently serves as the Director of the Machine Intelligence and Social Computing Lab (MISC) and the Centre for eLearning Innovation and Technology (ELITE) under the faculty. Prof. KING is also the Principal Investigator of the Knowledge and Education Exchange Platform (KEEP) and the academic honesty system VeriGuide.
Prof. KING joined Lee Woo Sing College in 2015, serving as a Fellow and Chairperson of the Strategy Information Technology Committee. He has led the development of the College’s campus network and interactive communication technologies. During his leadership, he introduced several innovative technology initiatives, including the College’s mobile app WoosApp, the establishment of advanced broadcast signage and video wall system as well as the enhancement of the hostel network infrastructure. He also provides strategic advice on the College’s social media and website development to meet the trends and evolving needs of students.
