Launched in 2018 and renewed in 2023, ENSURE delivers large, impactful interdisciplinary collaborations to tackle emerging issues related to a changing environment and human health and wellbeing. ENSURE serves as a platform for international academic exchange, promoting policy related works, and nurturing the next generation of young researchers to address sustainable development challenges.
Drawing on the complementary strengths of the two universities – the Institute of Environment, Energy and Sustainability at CUHK and the Environment and Sustainability Institute at the University of Exeter – the two Universities enter into this long-term partnership to strengthen research impact and visibility globally. The joint research effort reflects their common vision in promoting interdisciplinary research excellence which delivers benefits by tackling grand challenges and fulfilling societal needs globally.
ENSURE is governed by an International Steering Committee, chaired by senior leadership at CUHK and Exeter and comprised of academic leaders in disciplines aligned with environmental sustainability. The Joint Centre is overseen by an academic co-directorship, and is administered by the IEES at CUHK and the Global Partnerships office at Exeter.
