Scientific research work demands a kind of tenacity and creativity that often isn’t fully engaged in lectures and laboratory classes. While we focus on learning fundamental principles in lectures, conducting scientific research is, on the other hand, a valuable tool to prove or disprove fundamental principles. The Department encourages students to conduct research under the supervision of faculty members. Students who are interested to conduct research should take a pro-active role to contact our faculty members for details.
Overseas summer research programmes to Department of Chemistry in University of Warwick, Kansai University, and Hanyang University are available in summer term. The Department will send undergraduates each year to both universities respectively for a two-month research programme. The exact research period will be decided by an agreement between the student and the host supervisor in the partner universities. Students in this programme will gain exposure to forefront research and culture.
