With the successful hosting of three cohorts of undergraduate students from Stanford University’s Bing Overseas Studies Program (BOSP) since 2021, CUHK is excited to welcome the fourth cohort of 16 Stanford students this fall.
BOSP students choose from a curated list of courses across various disciplines, including Arts, Engineering, Medicine, and Social Science. This includes a mandatory course titled ‘Investigating Hong Kong through Multidisciplinary Lens’ taught by Prof. Ka Ming Wu of the Department of Cultural and Religious Studies, featuring guest speakers to explore the city’s culture through field trips and local movie screenings.

For the second consecutive year, CUHK is hosting a faculty member from Stanford, Prof. Kathryn Gin Lum. She taught ‘What Is Religion? Adventures in Religious Studies, Hong Kong Edition’ to both BOSP and CUHK students, organising field trips to Wong Tai Sin Temple, Big Buddha, Po Lin Monastery, and tech firms in Shenzhen.

Meanwhile, the Office of Academic Links has arranged a series of activities for BOSP students to engage with the city. This year’s excursions included visits to Macau, the Hong Kong Legislative Council, and Tsz Shan Monastery. Students also toured Light Be, a social housing enterprise supporting upward mobility, and volunteered with Food Angel, a food rescue organisation providing meals to the underprivileged.
BOSP provides Stanford’s students with the opportunity to study abroad in 13 global locations, and CUHK is proud to host the programme in Hong Kong.
