Patrick LEE

Something about me:
Patrick joined the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) in early 90s. He has a diverse interest on knowing people and developing people through meaningful conversation and communication. He served in various units in HKPF, covering different aspects of work including operational policing, administration and support, training and development as well as human resources. He holds Master Degree in Counselling and Post-Graduate Certificate in Adult Education and Training. He enjoys people development and valuable dialogues with others, especially young people.

 

Ethel SHA

Profession:
Social Worker

Research Interest:
Application of Big Data Analytics in Social Service, Project Management, Knowledge Management, Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery

Something about me:
Ethel completed her undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at the University of Hong Kong in 2007 and became a social worker in 2018 upon graduation from the Master of Social Science in Social Work at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She provided counselling services and managed projects for gamblers and their families, drug abusers and their families, and youths concerning career development and mental well-being. She is a Senior Addiction Counsellor recognized by the Asia Pacific Association for Addiction Professionals. She is also a professional translator specialising in social service and social justice issues, having her Master of Arts in Translation earned at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2022.

With a concern for human rights and dignity, she founded a social business project in 2017 with a vision to reduce trafficking survivors’ and vulnerable groups’ risks of being trafficked. She is working on a feasible business model to create stable incomes for high-trafficking-risk groups through liaison with local and overseas organizations.

Something about me:
Mr. Chen has rich experience in the fields of education, art, and technology. He has been awarded Teacher with Outstanding Contribution by the city of Los Angeles, and has also led his team to win the Red Dot Award. At present, he mainly serves in the field of education, and is interested in identity construction, intercultural studies, and research topics in the field of education. He has published articles in different magazines and journals.

 

Connie PANG

Mental Health of Children and Adolescents

Something about me:
I am honoured to be here. This course is a significant opportunity for all of us. Henri Frederic Amiel (1821-1881) had an impressive quote, “In health there is freedom. Health is the first of all liberties.” Managing mental health should be the initial step if we want to liberate our souls. My job is to serve young people with mental health concerns, I wrote storybooks for them and service protocols for service partners in the past few years. Also, I love using animations and VR in my mental health projects. I am looking forward to working with everyone in the course, and I hope to be able to meet you in person soon!

 

KUANG Yuxia

Urban Green and Low-carbon Development

Something about me:
I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning from Wuhan University and my MSc degrees in Geo-information Science and Earth Observation for Environmental Modelling and Management from University of Southampton (UK)and Lund University (Sweden) (which is an EU-Funded program). After graduation, I went straight to Shenzhen University where I have been working as a research assistant. I have a great passion for research in the interdisciplinary areas of urban planning, GIS, and smart city. During the past five years, I was mainly involved in projects-related research in the field of Smart Cities, SDGs, and Urban Regional Development. I also have extensive experience in national project applications and management (e.g., National Key R&D Programs), serving as the first contact point between the consortium, funding agency, and other stakeholders. To be a professional in project management, I earned PMP certification in my spare time.

I have an academic background in computer science and more than ten years of working experience in finance. ZHOU Fangfang

Something about me:
My name is Zhou Fangfang. I graduated from Sun Yat-sen University with a master’s degree in social work in 2012.  After graduation, I worked as a teacher of social work major in Zhongshan Polytechnic.I have been engaged in the social work education for ten years.  At the same time, I have also served as the director general of a social work agency in Zhongshan, responsible for the management of the agency.  I have presided over 5 research projects and participated in more than ten research projects and published several academic papers covering the fields of social work for the elderly, social work education, and social organizations.

 

Shirley JIANG

I obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Durham and a master’s degree from Nanyang Technological University. My research interests include aging, elderly caregiving, social policy, and gender studies. Before commencing my study at CUHK, I worked as a lecturer at a university in mainland China.
