In recognition of the outstanding academic achievement of Prof. Lyu Rung Tsong Michael, Prof. Lyu is awarded Choh-Ming Li Professor of Computer Science and Engineering.

Dr. Yu Lequan received CUHK Young Scholar Thesis award 2019. The award is offered by the Graduate School of CUHK to recognize the outstanding doctoral thesis written by research doctoral graduates.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is pleased to announce Wong Tsz Chun and Law Hei Yu as the recipients of the inaugural 2019 Yao Fellowship.

CHEUNG Ho Cheung, HUNG Wai Man, Chan Paul, and HO Shing Fung won the 2nd place in the PwC’s HackaDay 2019.

Mr. Gengjie Chen, a fourth-year PhD student under the supervision of Professor Evangeline F. Y. Young, won the first place of Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Student Research Competition Grand Finals.

The programming team from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering won the 12th place and a bronze medal at the 43rd Annual World Finals of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) held in Porto, Portugal.

Mr. Haoyu Yang was awarded the $10,000 Nick Cobb Memorial Scholarship by SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, and Mentor Graphics, a Siemens Business, for his contributions to the field related to advanced lithography.

Prof. KING Kuo Chin Irwin, have been elected Fellows of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in the class of 2019, for his research contributions to “Theory and applications of machine learning in social computing”.

Dr. Cao Qin has received the “CUHK Young Scholar Thesis Award” in December 2018. The award is offered by the Graduate School of CUHK to recognize the outstanding doctoral thesis written by research doctoral graduates.

Shuai LI elected the Google PhD Fellowship 2018.

Professor Wong and his team received a Silver Award for our project “AI Based Colour Blindness Correction App,” a project to enhance the color distinguishability of colorblind users.

Dr. Qi DOU won the HKIS-TOWNGAS Young Scientist Award 2018 and CUHK Postgraduate Research Output Award 2017.

PhD students Jingsong Chen, Gengjie Chen, Jinwei Liu, and Dan Zheng won the champion in 2018 CAD Contest at the IEEE/ACM International Conference on Computer-Aided Design (ICCAD) for the problem “Obstacle-Aware On-Track Bus Routing”.

Mr. Bentian Jiang (CSE), Mr. Xiaopeng Zhang, Mr. Ran Chen (CSE), and Mr. Wei Li (CSE) won the Second Place of the ICCAD 2018 International CAD Contest on the topic of timing-aware fill insertion.

Mr. Gengjie Chen won the First Place Gold Medal at the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Special Interest Group on Design Automation (SIGDA) Student Research Competition. His research competition title is “Seeing Nano Tree in Giga Forest on Chip”.

Prof. Bei YU, along with other co-authors from UT Austin and Cadence for receiving Integration, the VLSI Journal Best Paper Award 2018. The Best Paper Award aims to recognize the best quality paper published in the journal over the past three years.

Prof. Yufei Tao for receiving PODS 2018 Best Paper Award, for the paper titled “Entity Matching with Active Monotone Classification.”

Inventions of Geneva is the biggest event in the world to be exclusively devoted to inventions. Professor Wong and Dr. Shen received a Silver Award for our research project “Visual Sharing with Colorblind.”
