This award is given each semester to Teaching Assistants/Demonstrators that demonstrates exceptional performance and devotion to duty while acting on behalf of the department. It is a prestigious honour that serves to recognise the best of the best within our ranks. The awardees’ teaching performance, contribution to Department and character are considered during the selection process. Each awardee will receive a $1,000 prize.
We are grateful to have our Department Chairman, Prof. Kwong Fuk-yee, to present the certificates and awards to the awardees.

What’s more, we are happy to have Adam and Pengxian to share with us their wholehearted feelings of receiving this achievement 🙂
Sharing from Cheung Tsoh Lam (Responsible course: CHEM2110)
Receiving the outstanding graduate teaching assistant award is a great honor, and I’m grateful to both the students and professors. As the only TA of course CHEM2110, we should guide current undergraduates in understanding chemistry and avoiding misconceptions. Engaging in discussions with students enhances their understanding and keeps our knowledge sharp. It’s a rare and precious experience to conduct tutorials for 80 people. In my role as a course tutor, I focus on helping students with better tutorial materials. I believe those materials help the understanding and revision of the lecture. Teaching motivated and curious students has been both rewarding and intellectually stimulating, akin to the process of scientific research.

Sharing from Ye Pengxian (Responsible course: CHEM2870/2872/2878)
I’m deeply honored by the nomination and selection for this award! Chemistry, by its nature, is a subject based on conducting experiments. As a lab demonstrator, my primary goal is to cultivate and intensify students’ passion for learning chemistry and doing experiments. Simultaneously, I hope the students can fully understand the principles of the manual, and proactively think about the reasons behind their observations, rather than just scratch the surface. This award will inspire me to continue to strive for teaching excellence and encourage more students to explore the charm of chemistry.

Hearty congratulations to Adam and Pengxian, and many thanks to all nominators and our selection panels!
