Economy, Politics & Society
Research in this cluster explores the interplay of the economy and politics with society. For instance, economic and organisational sociologists investigate a number of substantive topics, from the firm and non-profit organisations, markets and other formal and informal institutions, entrepreneurship, and the impact of science and technology on society and human behaviour. Political sociologists study political dynamics in social movement and culture. They also use diverse research methodologies, including in-depth interviewing, ethnographic, historical, comparative, quantitative, experimental, and mixed methods approaches. This cluster runs an informal working group to bring together faculty and graduate students working in these two broadly defined fields.
