Qian He is a Vice-Chancellor Assistant Professor of Sociology (specializing in China studies) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She was a postdoctoral research associate at the Center on Contemporary China, Princeton University. She obtained her Ph.D. in sociology from the Department of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She received her B.Soc.Sc. in economics (highest academic honor) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and an M.A. in sociology from Columbia University.

Her current research intersects the substantive areas of International Migration, Social Stratification, Culture, Intergroup Relations, and Asian/Asian American Studies. A central thread of her research seeks to understand how culture affects immigrants’ socioeconomic incorporation in U.S. labor markets, with broader implications for racial-ethnic stratification. More broadly, She is interested in understanding how intergroup relations structure variations in socioeconomic outcomes and public opinion and the underlying mechanisms.

She studies the United States, China, and other Asian societies. Her work has appeared in Child Development, International Migration Review, Journal of Contemporary China, Social Psychology Quarterly, Social Science Research, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).
