Biography
Dr. POON Hong Kit Sam (潘匡杰) is a senior Lecturer in the School of Biomedical Sciences, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is currently the Head of Division of Education and also the Dissecting Lab Coordinator. He received his BSc (Biology), MPhil (Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences) and PhD (Anatomy) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. With his research interest in retinal diseases, male fertility and embryo development, he studied the mechanism of photoreceptor cell death, the effect of accessory sex glands secretion on sperms and its correlation with subsequent epigenetic regulation of imprinted genes in embryonic growth, fertility and fecundity. He is experienced in curriculum design and coordination of Biomedical Sciences courses in the Faculty of Medicine. He is interested in teaching topics ranged from gross anatomy, histology, embryology, neuroscience, epigenetics, reproductive biology and endocrine physiology. Apart from teaching, he also plays administrative and managerial roles in School.
