Discover moreThe canteens in CUHK usually close before 7 p.m., which can be inconvenient for busy students who want to eat healthily. Communal dining provides us with a great opportunity to relax, dine with friends and forget about our worries for an hour. We can share our thoughts with each other and make new friends in the unique S.H. Ho style.

Asia Triathlon Junior Cup 2024 - AG Sprint 2nd Runner up
This was my first international race after recovering from an injury, and I am glad to have achieved this result, although there are many things I could have done better during the race.
I came up in the lead pack during the swim and biked with the other 3 Malaysian athletes. I led off first in the run, feeling fresh off the bike. Feeling strong on the first lap of the run, I decided not to stop for water at the aid station (the decision that I regretted most. The extreme heat and humidity in Malaysia took a toll, and I became severely dehydrated and cramped up during the second lap of the run. This caused me to drop from the first place to the third place. Although I tried to build up and catch up in the last two laps of the run, the gap was too much to overcome.
In the end, I finished 13 seconds behind the athlete in front of me.
This race has provided me with a valuable lesson and experience. I will be focusing more on proper hydration and nutrition strategies, especially for races in hot climates and hot zone place. After this race, I know that I have so much more area to improve on. Looking forward to my upcoming races and training sessions:)

SHHO Runner Force-Overseas Running Subsidy Scheme: Hakodate Marathon 2024
Post-Race Sharing by Faris Wong @fariswong_0908
👇👇👇👇
Looking back, I still can’t believe I completed a full marathon. This was my first overseas and first full marathon race. I had never imagined being able to complete a 42.195 km marathon because it seemed impossible to run a 400m track 105 times.
But after joining the runner force family and meeting many supportive SHHO running buddies, I thought I was able to achieve this goal. They actively participate in local and overseas running events. Inspired by their stories of overseas marathons, I also wanted to have a taste of what they experienced so I decided to participate in the Hakodate full marathon.
The preparation process was not easy because I was not a frequent runner. When I started doing 20+ km tempo training, I couldn’t always maintain the target pace. However, I knew that if I accepted the failure and kept trying, things would get better over time. Before the race, I had been training to be able to complete the full marathon.
With a regular training plan, the full marathon was not as challenging as I had expected. I thoroughly enjoyed the race, thanks to the stunning, wonderful and rare rural views of Hakodate. I could also sense the Japanese enthusiasm for running culture. The vast majority of Japanese families sat outside their homes, enthusiastically cheering on the runners.
I am grateful that I still had the courage to step out of my comfort zone and challenge my limits. Additionally, the time spent running enabled me to reflect on my unhealthy lifestyles and understand the importance of regular exercise. Lastly, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who supported and encouraged me along the way.

*SHHO Runner Force-Overseas Running Subsidy Scheme*: Gold Coast Marathon, Australia @gcmarathon
Post-Race Sharing by Ken @kenwongkh_ _ The Fastest Man of SHHO🚀🚀🚀🛸🛸🛸🛸

The Gold Coast marathon was my first race after minor injuries. In the past few months, I worked very hard to force myself to get back in good shape after the injury. Before the race, I felt that my fitness had returned to pre-injury levels, though not to a crazy fit state, but at least I was confident in myself.
However, the race results were quite disappointing. I was aiming for a 67-minute finish, but ended up completing it in 69 minutes. The race itself was great - I ran with a large group of runners and there were many people cheering me on, and the course was very comfortable. So the slow pace was my own fault.
Nevertheless, I gave it everything I had and hustled till the end. I don’t blame myself, as I know every athlete experiences ups and downs. The most important thing is to be consistent and stay confident in myself, and I believe my time will come eventually.
I really love the Gold Coast - the people and the place. I would strongly recommend runners to come here and race together.

#HomeLetter from Master Mok
𝑨 𝑺𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 “𝑶” 𝑪𝒂𝒎𝒑
Last Saturday, a group of student leaders from last year’s Orientation Camp were training students who had committed to serving as leaders in the coming 2024 Orientation Camp for freshers. At the same time, our Alumni Association organised another “Old” Camp, where a group of College graduates (i.e., oldies) spent the weekend at the College, re-experiencing life there.
Although some graduates who joined are good friends (in fact, there was one married couple among the campers), not all graduates knew one another well as the years of their graduation spanned from 2016 to 2023. Yet, all who came were eager to build new friendships with one another. I was invited to give an opening remark at the beginning of the camp. I quoted a verse from the Bible, “A brother is born for adversity” (Proverbs 17:17), to encourage them to be brothers and sisters to one another. My wish to all graduates and students is that they can build kinship in and through the College, and the hallmark of kinship is that they can stick with and help one another amid adversity.
Graduates, you are always welcome back home! Ollie was overwhelmed with joy as she met up with our beloved graduates!
