Voluntary User-Pay Dental Service Scheme (VUPDSS) is a voluntary and self-paid dental service between the University’s members and the service providers, Health & Care Dental Services Limited or Quality HealthCare Dental Services Limited. Its primary purpose is to provide participants the additional convenience of receiving dental service at contracted dental clinics outside campus at concessionary rate. Full-time students, full-time staff and dependents, eligible retirees and dependents can enroll in the Scheme. The Scheme is open for application. Membership is valid from 1 Sep 2024 to 31 August 2025.

The University Medical Service Office (UMSO), in collaboration with the Hong Kong Red Cross, hosted a hands-on First Aid Demonstration Workshop for staff from the Estates Management Office (EMO), Physical Education Unit (PEU) and Security Office (SCU) on Thursday, 5 July 2024. This scenario-based simulation practice reinforced the application of basic first-aid knowledge and equipped participants with the skills to provide immediate treatment in the event of accidental injuries on campus. Featuring realistic emergency scenarios, the training enhanced the preparedness and emergency response capabilities of these key campus teams to maintain a safe working environment. UMSO will organize more educational activities to promote occupational safety and health on campus.

The Administrative and Planning Committee (AAPC) approved an adjustment to the charges for UMSO dental service with effect from 1 September 2024. The general service fee remains unchanged and the prosthodontic service fee will slightly revise upward with reference to the market price. The Mandala Art Healing Workshop was successfully held on Thursday, 6 June 2024 with an overwhelming response. The creation of Mandala art improved the concentration of participants and helped them to relieve pressure and relax, thus improving their physical and mental health. Staff and students participating in the event spent a joyful and relaxing afternoon. UMSO will organize more health education and promotion activities to promote a healthy campus.
