[Together, We Fight COVID-19 (Local) 💪]

Mr. Oscar Tsang is our Bachelor of Nursing graduate who is currently working in the surveillance ward of the Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital. Let’s listen to his experience sharing on combating COVID-19:😃

“I work in the surveillance ward which mainly screens and receives suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases. At the beginning, we knew very little about the disease and so would unavoidably feel worried. And now, both our workload and stress levels are unprecedentedly high.

As the situation develops, our guidelines for working in the ward change every day. The shortage of personal protective equipment and hospital wards have also affected the morale of our colleagues. What’s more, there might be more invisible patients in the community. Our ward has to deal with a large number of cases, but our workforce has not been increased accordingly.

Compared with the past, our workload now is much heavier and we feel more exhausted. But I am not complaining, because I know that I am a member of the team and it’s my responsibility to continue doing my work well.

Taking part in the fight against COVID-19 is indeed an unforgettable experience. I was still so young during the SARS outbreak, and was glad that I could stay at home due to class suspension. But now, in the face of the current epidemic, I can fully understand the huge pressure experienced by the frontline health care professionals.”
