Fundraising Objective
Although our School is part of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, we do not receive funding from the government. Our funding relies on the support from Chung Chi College, supporting denominations, and donations from individuals. The "Chung Chi Theological Education Fund" was established in 2019 with the aim of alleviating the financial pressure on the school in terms of faculty expenses. It is used to support the hiring of new teachers and ensure the smooth continuation of the faculty team during the peak retirement period. We are grateful for the support from all parties. Last year, the walkathon raised over HK$1.2 million for the fund, and it is projected that we will still need a total of HK$ 5.8 million over the next three years to support the expenses of new teachers.
Additionally, the Myanmar Institute of Theology (MIT) had planned to construct a new building. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic and internal conflicts, the construction and fundraising efforts were halted, resulting in increased construction costs. Last year, our School allocated HK$480,000 from the proceeds of the fundraising walkathon to support this project. The construction of the 90th anniversary building is now nearing completion, but they still need to raise funds for the final stages, including interior decoration and furniture procurement.
The funds raised from this walkathon will allocate 85% to the "Chung Chi Theological Education Fund" and 15% will be donated to the "Construction of the Myanmar Institute of Theology 90th Anniversary Building".
