University Appointments
New Pro-Vice-Chancellor
The Council of The Chinese University of Hong Kong has appointed Prof. Dennis K.P. Ng as Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University for a period of three years with effect from 1 August 2017, in accordance with Section 5(6) and Statute 7 of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Ordinance.
New University Dean of Students and Associate Vice-President
Prof. Edwin H.Y. Chan has been appointed by the Council as University Dean of Students, in accordance with Statute 10.5 of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Ordinance. He has also been appointed as Associate Vice-President. Both appointments are on a concurrent basis for a period of three years with effect from 1 August 2017.
New College Master
Prof. Anthony T.C. Chan has been appointed by the Council as the Master of Wu Yee Sun College for a period of four years with effect from 1 August 2017, to succeed Prof. Rance P.L. Lee.
Re-elected Council Member
Ms. Lina H.Y. Yan has been re-elected by the Board of Trustees of the United College, in accordance with Statute 11.1(e), 11.4 and 11.5 of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Ordinance, as a Member of the Council for a further period of three years with effect from 25 August 2017.
Reappointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor
The Council of The Chinese University of Hong Kong has reappointed Prof. Poon Wai-yin, in accordance with Section 5(6) and Statute 7 of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Ordinance, as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for a further period of three years with effect from 1 May 2017.
Reappointed Dean of Graduate School
The Council of The Chinese University of Hong Kong has reappointed Prof. Lutz-Christian Wolff, in accordance with Statute 15.8 of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Ordinance, as Dean of the Graduate School on a concurrent basis for a further period of three years with effect from 1 September 2017.
Reappointed College Head/Masters
The Council of The Chinese University of Hong Kong has reappointed Prof. Andrew C.F. Chan, in accordance with Statute 9.1 and 9.3 of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Ordinance as Head of Shaw College for a further period of three years from 1 July 2017.
Prof. Sun Sai-ming Samuel has been reappointed as Master of S.H. Ho College for a further period of one year from 1 August 2017.
Prof. Lau Wan-yee Joseph has been reappointed as Master of Lee Woo Sing College for a further period of three years from 1 January 2018.
Special Thanks
Special thanks are due to Prof. Michael Hui, Prof. Fung Tung and Prof. Rance Lee. Prof. Michael K.M. Hui will leave the office of Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University with effect from 1 August 2017 to continue his appointment as Professor of Marketing at the Department of Marketing. Prof. Fung Tung’s appointment as Associate Vice-President will expire on 31 July 2017. He will continue his appointment as Professor at the Department of Geography and Resource Management. Prof. Rance P.L. Lee has been serving as the founding Master of Wu Yee Sun College since 1 August 2011. His term of office will expire on 31 July 2017. The University expresses its deepest gratitude and appreciation to them for their leadership and sterling contribution.
