College Assemblies, High Table Dinners & WS Forum (Term 2, 2023-24)
Rules and Regulations
Requirement
Students should attend any TWO College Assemblies/ High Table Dinner / WS Forum each term.
Registration
- The schedule of GEWS1000 is posted at the College website.
- Students can do the registration at the Registration and Attendance System (https://webapp.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/ras/restricted/eventlist?id=240) during the registration period.
- Students have the flexibility to cancel their registration at any time within the registration period.
- Students may check their registration status on the RAS System.
Attendance Taking
- Students must present their CU Link cards for attendance-taking.
- Students should be punctual. Students who are late for more than 15 minutes or leave early without prior approval will be counted as absence.
- After attending an Assembly / High Table Dinner / WS Forum, students MUST complete the online evaluation on Blackboard on the day of the programme. Otherwise, their attendance will not be counted.
- The attendance record will be available on Blackboard within 2 working days after the programme. Should there be any discrepancy, students should contact the College (wscollege@cuhk.edu.hk) within 5 working days after the release of the attendance record. Late applications will be denied. All applications will be passed to the College Dean of General Education for consideration.
Absence
Assembly & WS Forum
- Any registered students whose attendance is not successfully recorded are regarded as absentees. For the sake of fairness to other students, the registration right for Assembly, High Table Dinner and WS Forum of absentees shall be restricted.
- For those students absent from the Assembly / WS Forum due to illness, they can submit an application for restoration of registration right, together with valid medical certificate or related supporting documents to wscollege@cuhk.edu.hk within 3 working days. Late applications will be denied.
High Table Dinner
- Any registered students whose attendance is not successfully recorded are regarded as absentees. Absentees have to pay a meal fee of HK$160. The registration right for Assembly, High Table Dinner and WS Forum of absentees with outstanding meal fee shall be restricted, until the outstanding meal fee is settled.
- For those students absent from the High Table Dinner due to illness, they can submit an application for fee waiver, together with valid medical certificate or related supporting documents to wscollege@cuhk.edu.hk within 3 working days. All applications will be passed to the College Dean of General Education for consideration. Late applications will be denied.
Courtesy
- Students must follow the dress code, formal dress with College gown, strictly to participate in High Table Dinner. The College has the right to refuse students with improper attire to attend High Table Dinner, and the attendance shall be recorded as “Absence”.
- Students should keep quiet as a respect to the College, guest speakers, and other attendees during the programme.
- Students should refrain from talking, playing and other improper behavior such as the use of cell phones and electronic products.
- The College has the right to request misbehaved students to leave during the programme, and the attendance shall be recorded as “Absence”.
Student Announcement
Student organisations who would like to make announcements during the programme should apply for approval from the College at least 5 days before the programme.
Add/Drop Application
Students who are unable to fulfil the requirement of GEWS1000 due to participating in exchange programme, internship or practicum should submit an application together with supporting documents to wscollege@cuhk.edu.hk during the add/ drop period. All applications will be passed to the College Dean of General Education for consideration. Late applications will be denied.
