This summer, six teams comprising 52 student-athletes from the University took part in various overseas competitions. On 25 June, the Flag Presentation Ceremony cum Yeung Ming Biu and Au Po Kee Athletes Scholarship Presentation Ceremony was held at the University Gymnasium to boost their morale.

At the ceremony, Prof. Fok Tai-fai, CUHK Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. Yeung Ming-biu and Ms. Yeung Au Po-kee, donors of the scholarship, presented the University flag to the athletes. Dr. and Mrs. Yeung also presented the scholarship certificates to Ma Chun-wai (life-saving) and Tse Ka-chun (table tennis). In attendance were Prof. Dennis Ng, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor and University Dean of Students; Mr. Eric Ng, Registrar and Secretary of the University; Prof. Leung Yuen-sang, Head of Chung Chi College and Dean Arts, Prof. Jimmy Yu, Head of United College; Prof. Joseph Y.W. Lau, Master of Lee Woo Sing College; Prof. Ko Wing-hung, Dead of Students, Chung Chi College; Prof. Mak Chan Shuk-yin, Associate College Head and Dean of Students, United College; Prof. Louis Lee, Dean of Students, Wu Yee Sun College; Ms. Sam Sin, Donor Relationship Manager, Office of Institutional Advancement; Mr. Lo Yuen-cheong, Director of Physical Education Unit and colleagues of the unit.

CUHK teams participated in the following competitions: the 8th All China Woodball Championships, the Beijing Sport University Basketball Invitational Tournament, the Kyoto University Rowing Friendly Competition, the 2013 All China University Handball Competition, the 18th All China University Tennis Championships, the 17th All China University Badminton Championships, and the 27th Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan, Russia.
