New MPhil Programme The senate has approved a proposal to establish in the academic year 1987-88 a Master o f Philosophy programme in Anthropology. New Member o f Distinctive Marks and Ceremonial Dress Committee Professor G.H. Choa has been appointed by the Vice-Chancellor to be a member o f the Distinctive Marks and Ceremonial Dress Committee w ith effect from 1st February, 1987. Professor Choa is to replace Dr. Ellen L i, who has retired from the Committee in July 1986 after over twenty-three years o f service. Honorary Adviser o f the Institute o f Chinese Studies Professor Yu Ying-shih has been appointed Honorary Adviser o f the Institute o f Chinese Studies from 21st January, 1987 to 20th January, 1990. University Members Serve on Outside Committees (1) Professor Char-nie Chen, Professor o f Psychia try , has been reappointed by His Excellency the Acting Governor as a member o f the Council o f the Baptist College for a term o f three years effective 1st January, 1987. College Visiting Scholars * Three New Asia College Ming Yu Visiting Scholars visited the College in January: Professor David Clarke, Professor o f Philosophy, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, USA, visited the College from 11th to 15th January; Professor Kailin Tuan, Professor o f Insurance and International Busi­ ness, School o f Business Administration o f Temple University in Philadelphia, USA , from 14th to 18th January; and Professor Fei Xiao-tong, Professor o f Peking University and Central Institute for M inority Nationalities, from 20th to 21st January. Professor Lu Yanshao, Zhejiang Academy o f Fine Arts in China visited New Asia College as its S.Y. Chung Visiting Scholar from 4th January for a month. * M r. Xiao Qian, a famous Chinese writer, visited Chung Chi College from 2nd to 17th January as its 1986-87 Siu Lien Ling Wong Visiting Fellow. M r.
