[K-Pop in Public] Cover Dance and Fandom Culture in Hong Kong

Chocomint HK is a Hong Kong-based K-pop cover dance crew whose members are taking part in “K-pop in public,” a popular trend on social media platforms such as YouTube and Instagram. Their cover of BLACKPINK’s “Pink Venom” and “Shut Down” had 200,000 and 749,000 views respectively recently. In this lecture performance, Chocomint HK will explain a distinctive K-pop cover dance feature as a form of social media dance and show K-pop cover dance as a form of intercultural performance that fans are performing themselves as a fandom.
