The Sixteenth Graduate Seminar on Modern and Contemporary China with the theme of "𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚, 𝟏𝟗𝟎𝟎 - 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒" , co-organized by The Chinese University of Hong Kong-Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation Asia-Pacific Centre for Chinese Studies, Institute of Chinese Studies, and Centre for China Studies, will be held on 𝟒 – 𝟓 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒.

To facilitate academic exchange between Chinese and overseas scholars, a selected group of scholars from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, UK, and USA have been invited to explore subjects from across the spectrum of environmental, economic, political, legal, social, ideological and cultural approaches to examining changes of the land in China over the last century until today. Presentations will be given in either Putonghua or English. All interested parties are welcomed to join the Seminar.

Guided by Dr. Yao Wuyutong and Professor Tim Summers, our MA students had the incredible opportunity to explore Chongqing and Chengdu from December 8 to 13. We explored a diverse array of places, ranging from museums, corporate visits, industrial parks, and institutions. Our journey allowed us to delve into various perspectives of Chongqing and Chengdu's development, with a focus on the automotive, sci-fi, and local agriculture sectors, etc. Each visit provided us with valuable insights into these cities' growth and the challenges they faced. We would also like to express our gratitude to all the incredible hosts and speakers who made our field trip to Chongqing and Chengdu unforgettable.
