The world is experiencing an unprecedented rising trend of ageing population. Over 2 billion people will be aged 60 or above by 2050. In Hong Kong, about 30 percent of population will be aged 65 or above in 2041. Ageing presents challenges as well as opportunities in both individual and societal spheres.
Ageing well by older persons hinges on various personal and environmental factors such as their lifestyle, socio-economic status, home and neighborhood environment, and air pollution. Through cross-discipline collaborative researches, we can have more in-depth understanding on the multi-faceted impact of ageing population to the society so as to enhance the well-being of older persons.
The Institute serves as a platform to synergize research efforts, promote knowledge transfer and reach out to the society through community outreach programmes. We invite your participation to support the work of the Institute and make Hong Kong an even more age-friendly society.
