Established in 1984, the Urogynaecology Team provides comprehensive women’s health care and offers top-notch specialized urogynaecology services to women in Hong Kong. The Urogynaecology Team is accredited by both The Hong Kong College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (HKCOG) and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) as an urogynaecology subspecialty training centre.

Below are the new services and treatments which the Urogynaecology Team introduced to Hong Kong:

1999: Tension free transvaginal tape (TVT) surgery

2004: Outside-in transobturator tension free transvaginal tape (TOT) surgery

2005: Inside-out transobturator tension free transvaginal tape surgery

2005: Laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy

2005: Laparoscopic colposuspension

2007: Vaginal mesh repair surgery

2007: Robotic assisted laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy

2010: Transperineal ultrasound

2012: Uterine preserving surgery: laparoscopic hysterocolposacropexy

2013: Vaginal repair of vesico-vaginal fistula

2013: Vaginal repair of recto-vaginal fistula 2020: Perineal clinic for assessment of anal sphincter         

The Urogynaecology Team has also introduced comprehensive training to nurses for conducting nurse-lead continence counselling clinics, urodynamics clinics and vaginal pessary replacement clinics.
