CUHK Medicine MBChB Programme (O&G)
The undergraduate training in O&G is scheduled for the 5th year in the 6-year curriculum. During the 5th year, medical students are divided into four major groups and rotate to study the following modules: (1) O&G, (2) Psychiatry, (3) Paediatrics, and (4) Family and Community Medicine. Each module will last for 9 weeks.
In the O&G module, medical students will take 4 weeks in learning obstetrics and 4 weeks in gynaecology. The last week is for revision and examination. The main teaching venue is Prince of Wales Hospital, but students may have the opportunity to attend other O&G units in Kwong Wah Hospital, Tuen Man Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, United Christian Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, North District Hospital, Alice Ho Nethersole Hospital and Family Planning Association. Our department is dedicated to delivering high-quality medical education. Our courses and teachers have been highly appreciated by the medical students in the past few years as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2. Several professors from our department have been awarded ‘The Best Teacher of the Year’ by the Faculty of Medicine.
We are committed to nurturing medical students with the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.
In the annual White Coat Inauguration Ceremony, medical freshmen, in witness of their parents, friends and teachers, are donned with white coats which signify the start of their medical journey.
They will also take an oath and commit to upholding the highest standards of being doctors to serve the patients and the community.
Teachers’ and Students’ Awards Presentation Ceremony is an important annual event in the Faculty of Medicine. Teachers of the Year Awards are presented to professors of each programme. It is an occasion in which we all come together to thank our dedicated teachers who have not only passed their knowledge on to students, but have also inspired them.
Our warmest congratulations go to the O&G teachers. Surely they will keep up their good work!
