Situated in the hugely populated New Territories East of Hong Kong, the Perinatal Medicine Team manages 6000-7000 childbirths in the Prince of Wales Hospital every year. It has maintained the highest delivery rate among all public units in Hong Kong since its establishment in the late 1980s. The Perinatal Medicine Team also receives referral of high-risk cases, such as morbid adherence of placenta and placental praevia for special treatment.

The Perinatal Medicine Team has an overall Caesarean section rate of 22-24%, naturally offering trainees precious opportunities to learn complicated procedures, such as forceps delivery, vaginal breech delivery, vaginal twin delivery, external cephalic version. It is accredited by both the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and The Hong Kong College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (HKCOG) as an obstetric and MFM training centre.
