Course Description The course is an introductory course in creative and new media, which teaches video production to enhance visual literacy of students for their ability to understand, produce and communicate through visual images. Students will go through the learning process by doing. They will be required to complete individual and group projects in order to learn visual narrative and to tell stories with visual images.
Course Content The course provides an overview of the process of video production from pre-production, production to post-production. Students will be guided through all the stages of video production, from scripting, shooting, lighting, sound recording to editing. In the course, students will generate ideas, discuss works of media art and practise skills and techniques.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the course, student will:

  1. Be able to identify and comprehend basic vocabulary and terms used in video production.
  2. Understand the workflow of video production.
  3. Gain some hands-on experience in video shooting and editing.
  4. Understand recent developments in the creative and new media and its role in contemporary society.
