Dr. Alexandre Chan is a tenured Associate Professor with the Department of Pharmacy at National University of Singapore and an Associate Consultant Clinical Pharmacist at National Cancer Centre Singapore. He completed his Doctor of Pharmacy at Rutgers University, and subsequently, a Pharmacy Practice Residency at University of California San Francisco and an Oncology Specialty Residency at University of California Davis Medical Center. He has also completed his Master of Public Health at National University of Singapore. He is currently certified by the US Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties as Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist. Dr. Chan’s clinical and research portfolio includes oncology supportive care (in lymphoma and breast cancer patients), anticancer drug-drug interactions and associated toxicities, and pharmacoepidemiology. He has published over 60 full-length peer-reviewed manuscripts in various medical and pharmacy journals, including Journal of Clinical Oncology, Lancet Oncology, Annals of Oncology, Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety, Supportive Care in Cancer, Clinical Therapeutics and Annals of Pharmacotherapy. Dr. Chan has received numerous grants and awards for his research, and has delivered lectures at numerous regional and international oncology and pharmacy conferences. | Dr. Betty Chan received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Southern California (USC) in 1993. She then completed a one-year post-doctoral Pharmacy Practice Residency training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 1994, and an additional one-year specialty residency in Hematology-Oncology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in 1995. Dr. Chan has worked as a Clinical Pharmacist in the Hematology-Oncology/Bone Marrow & Stem Cell Transplantation Unit at Cedars –Sinai Medical Center and as Clinical Pharmacist at the UCLA/Jonnson Comprehensive Cancer Center before joining the faculty members at the USC School of Pharmacy in May 2001. Dr. Chan is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at USC School of Pharmacy, and is also Pharmacy Practice Residency Program Director and Preceptor at Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and Hospital since 2003. She is actively involved in providing daily patient care and clinical services to Hematology-Oncology patients in the Ambulatory Care setting. Dr. Chan serves as clerkship preceptor to Level IV pharmacy students and teaches didactic lectures in the Oncology Therapeutics Module and has been the Oncology Therapeutics Module Course Co-coordinator since 2007. Dr. Chan has been board-certified by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (US) in Oncology since December 2002, and has recently been re-certified in July 2009. |
Admission Requirements
Applicants should possess
- A Bachelor degree in pharmacy or higher AND
- 4 years practice experience with minimal 3 years of relevant working experience*
- Nomination by Department Manager/ department in-charge
* Relevant working experience includes provision of pharmacy service to oncology patients and chemotherapy reconstitution service
