FOREWORD

The Rules and Regulations governing the use of Water Sports Centre (hereinafter referred to as "the Centre") aim to serve as a general guide and source of information to all users whilst using the Centre. The Rules and Regulations governing the use of the Centre are posted at the entrance of the Centre and can be accessed on the web at http://www.peu.cuhk.edu.hk/en-gb/facilities/water-sports-centre/wsc-info/rules-and-regulations. The Physical Education Unit of the University reserves the rights to modify, revoke, or add to such Rules and Regulations when necessary. However, written notices concerning the above will be posted at the entrance of the Centre.

  1. General Regulations
    The Centre is a designated venue for water sports including Sailing, Windsurfing, Kayaking and Rowing in the sea and for barbecue on land. Users must seek the approval from PEU for carrying out other activities at the Centre.

    1. Opening Hours
      1. The Centre is open on the following days:
        Monday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
        Tuesday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
        Wednesday Closed
        Thursday 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
        Friday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
        Friday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
        Friday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
      2. The Centre is closed during the annual leave, holidays and compensation leave of the Centre staff (Supervisor and workman). The Management of the Centre (hereinafter referred to as the "Management") will consult all member clubs for the leave arrangement for the staff and a yearly calendar of the Centre will be announced in September each year.
      3. Users must not carry out any water sports when the Centre is closed.
      4. The Management shall close the Centre if, in its opinion, the Centre at any time is not suitable for use or for any reasons, e.g. bad weather.

       

    2. Eligible Users
      The following categories of users are eligible to use the Centre:
      1. Full-time and part-time CUHK students.
      2. Full-time and part-time CUHK staff
      3. CUHK Alumni who possess a valid CUHK Credit Card.

       

    3. Guests
      Guests may use the Centre under the following conditions:
      1. Only those eligible users as described in Para (1.2), may invite guests to the Centre. They must purchase a Guest Ticket for each guest at the Centre Office before using the Centre facilities.
      2. Guests must be accompanied by eligible users at all times when they use the Centre.
      3. Guests shall observe the Rules and Regulations governing the use of Centre.
      4. Eligible users shall be responsible for the conduct of their guests when using the Centre.
      5. Guest tickets are non-refundable.
      6. The charge for guest ticket is posted on the Centre notice board.
      7. If any eligible user violates any of the above regulations when bringing his/her guests to the Centre, the Management may suspend his/her right to bring guests to the Centre. The PEU shall determine the period of suspension.
      8. Guests may use any of the Centre facilities under the above conditions.

       

    4. Booking for Barbecue
      1. Eligible users described in Para. 1.2 may book barbecue facility at the Centre.
      2. Priority is given to Centre Member Clubs and Centre activities. Bookings for barbecues for Member Clubs and the Centre Management can be made three months in advance. Individual bookings can be made two months in advance. In all circumstances, bookings must be made at least one week in advance.
      3. Users must submit the completed Application Form to the Centre Office for endorsement and confirmation with the appropriate fee during Centre Office opening hours at least one week before the date of use.
      4. Application Forms are available at the Centre Office and can be downloaded at the Centre website.
      5. Bookings are on a first-come first-served basis and are non-transferable.
      6. Only one booking per week is allowed.
      7. Telephone bookings will not be accepted. However, enquires for available dates are welcome.
      8. Charges for barbecue bookings are non-refundable.
      9. Barbecue activity shall be terminated before 10:00pm and all users must leave the Centre.
      10. Users must tidy up the barbecue facility before they leave. Otherwise, they will be suspended for future use of the facility.

       

    5. Personal Conduct
      1. Users shall observe their own safety and safety of other users at all times.
      2. Users going out for water sports shall return one hour before the Centre closes.
      3. Smoking is prohibited in the Centre.
      4. No animals are allowed to enter the Centre.
      5. Gambling is not allowed in the Centre.
      6. Users shall keep the Centre tidy and clean.
      7. Users shall observe general rules of courtesy at all times.
      8. In the case of misconduct, or of any action inconsistent with the Regulations governing the use of the Centre, the Management has the authority to reject or debar any offender from entering the premises or using the facilities. If necessary, the Management shall report such offender(s) to the PEU for appropriate action.

       

    6. Equipment and Property
      1. The Centre equipment may be on loan to users when using the Centre.
      2. Users must produce their University I.D. Cards for the loan of equipment.
      3. Users are responsible for the equipment on loan to them. They are required to pay for any loss or damage of the equipment at a cost to be decided by the Management. Equipment checked out has to be returned immediately after use.
      4. Users will be responsible for any damage to the properties of the Centre, such as lockers, windows, flooring, furniture, etc. Any damage should be reported immediately to the Centre Office.

       

    7. Changing Rooms and Lockers
      1. Keys for lockers in the Changing Rooms are issued at the Centre Office. Users must produce their University I.D. Cards for the use of lockers. On checking out, the keys must be returned to the Centre Office.

       

    8. Lost and Found
      1. Users are reminded not to leave valuables in the Centre. The University will not accept any responsibility for loss or damage of personal property.
      2. All found properties should be returned to the Centre Office. They will be kept at the Centre Office for one month. Thereafter all unclaimed items will be sent to the University Security Office for further action.

       

    9. Safety Guidelines
      1. Users shall observe the Safety Guidelines of the Centre.

       

    10. First-Aid and Liability for Accidents
      1. First-aid boxes are kept in the Centre Office and the Centre's rescue boat. Users are responsible for their own safety when using the Centre. The University will not accept any responsibility or liability for any accident or injury incurred by users.

       

    11. Motor Boat Activities
      1. Motor boat users must possess a valid Hong Kong Masters and Engineers (Outboard Motors) Class 2 license.
      2. According to the HKSAR Marine Department regulations, speed restriction around the Centre seafront is 5 knots. All motor boats users should comply.
      3. Motor boat users must pay attention not only to their own safety but also the safety of other water sports users.
      4. No petrol or other inflammable liquid should be stored in any motor boat. They should be stored at the Centre's Dangerous Goods Store.

    NOTE:
    Any violation of the above conditions by any user may result in suspension of his/her right in using the Centre. The PEU of the University shall decide the period of suspension.
